It follows a clip of 'The Force Awakens' cast singing the 'Star Wars' theme a cappella

US TV host Jimmy Fallon marked the success of the new Star Wars movie by editing footage from the franchise’s films to the tune of the Bee Gees’ hit ‘Stayin’ Alive’.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released in cinemas last week to vast acclaim, with Fallon stating on late-night show The Tonight Show that the film proved how Star Wars is well and truly “staying alive”.

Watch the Star Wars cast from past and present singing along to the song in the clip beneath.

Meanwhile, the cast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens appeared on The Tonight Show to sing the movie’s iconic theme a cappella.

Stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie and Lupita Nyong’o appeared alongside The Roots and Fallon to perform the theme.
