A new preview video for The Dark Knight Rises has appeared online – scroll down to watch it.

The 13-minute featurette includes clips and stills from the film alongside interviews with stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy. Director Christopher Nolan also appears in the preview video, calling the film a “very elemental conflict between good and evil”.

The Dark Knight Rises is the third and final instalment in Nolan’s acclaimed Batman trilogy, which started with 2005’s Batman Begins before continuing with The Dark Knight in 2008. The sequel takes place eight years after the events of The Dark Knight and introduces the character of Selina Kyle – aka Catwoman – played by Hathaway. In the new featurette, Hathaway says that Nolan was “able to amp up the stakes for this last movie”.

Bale returns as Bruce Wayne, while Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman have reprised their roles from previous films. The Dark Knight Rises also stars Tom Hardy as Batman’s hulking nemesis Bane. In the new featurette, Hardy describes the film as “a multi-layered story with massive amounts of action”.

The Dark Knight Rises opens in the US and the UK on July 20. Last week it was revealed that the film has received a 12A rating from the British Board of Film Classification and has a running time of 164 minutes – 12 minutes longer than The Dark Knight and 24 minutes longer than Batman Begins.
