Sylvester Stallone to follow ‘The Expendables 2’ with ‘The Tomb’

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis had been rumoured for role

Sylvester Stallone has signed up to star in high-tech prison drama The Tomb, according to reports.

The action veteran has got on board with the project after Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis both passed up the chance to take the role, Variety.com claims.

The film recently lost its director Antoine Fuqua, although Stallone is not thought to be keen on multitasking and taking on that job on the project too.

It’s believed that the plot will centre on a designer of supposedly impregnable prisons being forced to escape from one after being framed for a crime he did not commit.

Stallone is currently filming his role in The Expendables 2 with Willis and Schwarzennegger in Bulgaria. The film lost a crew member last week when a stuntman was killed during an explosion scene.

A second stuntman was also hurt in the blast and taken to hospital. He is thought to be in a stable condition after undergoing a five-hour operation.
