Singer has reportedly landed a role in 'The Secret Service' from director Matthew Vaughn
Taylor Swift is the latest big name to have reportedly landed a role in The Secret Service, the forthcoming spy film from director Matthew Vaughn
The movie is something of a reunion for the creative team behind the original Kick-Ass film. Vaughan will direct from a script by Jane Goldman adapted from The Secret Service comic book by Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar.
Colin Firth has signed up to star as a secret agent who joins forces with a punky young upstart played by newcomer Taron Egerton. Samuel L Jackson has been cast as the film’s villain and Michael Caine will appear as the head of a spy organisation.
Meanwhile, it has been reported in recent weeks that Adele, Elton John, David Beckham and Star Wars actor Mark Hamill have all been lined up for high-profile cameos. Now Swift is said to have joined the cast too.
According to The Mirror, she will play a character who escapes after being kidnapped by Samuel L Jackson‘s baddie – and then exacts her revenge. “She will be required to have some heavy-duty martial arts training in order that her character convincingly kicks Samuel L Jackson’s butt,” a ‘source’ apparently told the tabloid.
Vaughn is due to start shooting The Secret Service later this year in locations including London and the south of France. The film will open in US cinemas on November 14, 2014 though the UK release date has yet to be confirmed.
