Creepy clan previously appeared on the big screen in a pair of films starring Anjelica Huston
The Addams Family are to return in a new animated movie.
The film’s script will be written by Pamela Pettler, whose screenwriting credits include a pair of spooky movies, Corpse Bride and Monster House. The project is in the works at MGM and another TV and film company BermanBraun, Variety reports.
The Addams Family were created by cartoonist Charles Addams, who drew the creepy clan for The New Yorker from 1938 until his death in 1988. The characters of Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday and Pugsley became famous when they appeared in a popular US sitcom in the 1960s.
A pair of live-action feature films, The Addams Family and Addams Family Values, followed in the 1990s with Anjelica Huston, Raúl Juliá and Christina Ricci starring as members of the creepy clan.
At one point Tim Burton was planning his own stop-motion movie featuring The Addams Family, but this project has since been abandoned.
