The sequel starring Andrew Garfield began shooting in New York earlier this month (February)
Chris Cooper, the Oscar-winning star of Adaptation, has joined the cast of The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
He will appear as Norman Osborn, the character who eventually becomes Spider-Man’s nemesis the Green Goblin, Variety reports. Osborn aka the Green Goblin was previously played by Willem Dafoe in the 2002 Spider-Man movie starring Tobey Maguire.
Director Marc Webb began shooting his sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man in New York earlier this month (February). Andrew Garfield is back as Peter Parker and Emma Stone will reprise her role as Gwen Stacy, while Jamie Foxx has joined the cast and will play a villain called Electro.
Meanwhile, Chronicle star Dane DeHaan will appear as Harry Osborn, Norman’s son and Peter Parker’s best friend. The cast also includes Sally Field, Paul Giamatti and Shailene Woodley, who is thought to be playing Mary-Jane Watson.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set for release on May 2, 2014. It will be the first ever Spider-Man movie to be shot entirely in New York City and New York State.
