‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ writers sign up for third film

The second instalment of the Superhero franchise, starring Andrew Garfield, due for release in 2014.

The writers of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 have signed up for a third film, it has been announced.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriters Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner, who all share the credit for writing the superhero sequel, which is due out on April 18, 2014, will reunite for a third and fourth instalment.

In June (2013), producers at Sony announced the dates for the third and fourth films in the franchise – June 10, 2016 and May 4, 2018. It is hoped actor Andrew Garfield will reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and director Marc Webb will return.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is currently in post-production. Alongside Garfield, Emma Stone is back as Gwen Stacy and Sally Field reprises her role as Peter’s Aunt May in the film due out next year.

Jamie Foxx also appears in the movie, as he plays Electro, a baddie with the ability to control electricity. A brief teaser clip featuring Foxx’s high-voltage villain was released at San Diego Comic-Con last month (July) and you can watch it here.

Shailene Woodley had also been due to appear as Mary Jane Watson, but her role has recently been cut from the film and MJ will now make her Amazing Spider-Man debut in the third movie, due in 2016.
