Comedy sequel will open in August 6
The release date for The Inbetweeners 2 has been revealed.
The film, which is the sequel to 2011’s caper The Inbetweeners, will be released on August 6, 2014. It will see Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison all reprising their roles from the popular TV series, with show creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley serving as writers and directors.
Speaking previously about the film, Morris and Beesley said: “We can’t say too much as we don’t want to spoil the jokes for you, but what we can exclusively reveal is there will be kangaroos. And Australians. And possibly koalas.
“Oh and obviously Jay, Will, Neil and Simon providing they’re let into the country. Thanks so much for all your support, we’re hoping to deliver a film that you’ll enjoy even more than the last one.”
The Inbetweeners Movie followed the show’s crew of not-quite-cool teenagers on a holiday to Crete. It became the highest-grossing comedy film in UK box office history with takings of £45million.
The Inbetweeners originally ran for three series on E4 between 2008 and 2010, and was voted Best TV Show at the NME Awards in 2010. A US remake aired on MTV in 2012 but got the axe after just one season.
