‘The Inbetweeners Movie 2’ shooting in Australia this week

Film is planned for August 2014 release

Shooting on The Inbetweeners Movie 2 will begin in Australia this week, according to reports.

Digital Spy says that the film, which will see Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison all reprising their roles from the popular TV series, will begin shooting in Australia on December 7 before returning to the UK in January next year.

Speaking about the project, show creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley said: “We can’t say too much as we don’t want to spoil the jokes for you, but what we can exclusively reveal is there will be kangaroos. And Australians. And possibly koalas.

“Oh and obviously Jay, Will, Neil and Simon providing they’re let into the country. Thanks so much for all your support, we’re hoping to deliver a film that you’ll enjoy even more than the last one.”

Released in 2011, The Inbetweeners Movie followed the show’s crew of not-quite-cool teenagers on a holiday to Crete. It became the highest-grossing comedy film in UK box office history with takings of £45million.

The Inbetweeners originally ran for three series on E4 between 2008 and 2010, and was voted Best TV Show at the NME Awards in 2010. A US remake aired on MTV last year (2012) but got the axe after just one season.
