The superhero sequel starring Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman arrives in cinemas this November
Chris O’Dowd has revealed he has a very small part in Thor 2.
Since The IT Crowd ended in 2010, the Irish actor has forged a successful career in the US with roles in comedy films Bridesmaids and This Is 40, as well as hit HBO show Girls.
When asked if he now wants to branch out into the action genre, O’Dowd told Indiewire: “I don’t know if I’d do an action movie because I don’t know if I could keep a straight face, honestly. I just think it’s so silly. Like, I love watching them but I can’t imagine me doing one.”
However, the actor then let slip: “Actually, you know what I’ve done, just for fun because I didn’t think there was any way that I could be in a superhero movie, so I’ve done a scene in the new Thor movie, just for that. I just do like one scene, which was quite fun.”
The new Thor movie, subtitled The Dark World, is scheduled for release on November 8, 2013. Chris Hemsworth is back as the hammer-wielding hero and will do battle with a villain called Malekith The Accursed, played by former Doctor Who star Christopher Eccleston. Meanwhile, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston and Anthony Hopkins have all reprised their roles from the first film.
