Kermit, Miss Piggy and co will return to the big screen

The Muppets is getting a sequel, according to reports.

Disney successfully revived Jim Henson’s characters for the recent successful family movie, which won an Oscar for Bret McKenzie‘s song ‘Man Or Muppet’.

And now a follow-up is already in the works according to Variety. Director James Bobin and co-writer Nicholas Stoller have both been asked to return.

There is no word yet as to whether Jason Segel, who co-wrote the script for the first film, will be returning as well. He and Amy Adams were the human leads alongside Kermit, Miss Piggy and friends.

The Muppets revisited the characters in the present day where they had disbanded, getting back together for one last show to save their old theatre from an oil developer. The storyline prompted right-wing commentators on Fox News to brand the movie ‘anti-business’.

The film has so far earned over $154.8 million (£97 million) worldwide. You can watch the music video for ‘Man Or Muppet’ below.
