Director James Mangold is in talks to reunite with Hugh Jackman for a second standalone Logan movie
A sequel to this summer’s The Wolverine is now in the works.
According to Deadline, the film’s director James Mangold is in talks with 20th Century Fox to reunite with Hugh Jackman for a second standalone Logan adventure.
Mangold is said to be negotiating a deal to write a treatment for the sequel, whose plot is being kept tightly under wraps. X-Men franchise veteran Lauren Shuler Donner will once again serve as a producer.
Since its release this July, The Wolverine has taken over $415 million (£255 million) worldwide, the second-highest total of any X-Men film behind 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand, which took around $460 million (£285 million).
Meanwhile, Jackman has reprised his role as Logan aka Wolverine in next year’s X-Men: Days Of Future Past, which opens in cinemas on May 22. Watch the trailer for the film – which also stars Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart – below.
