Spielberg's equine epic holds off competition from George Clooney's 'The Descendants'
War Horse has held onto the UK box office number one spot for the third week.
Steven Spielberg‘s WW1 epic proved an enduring favourite in cinemas, taking almost £3 million and beating George Clooney‘s Oscar favourite The Descendants into second place.
Liam Neeson‘s The Grey and animation A Monster In Paris also debuted inside the top five. Meanwhile, last week’s 10 Oscar nominations for The Artist saw it climb three places to number five on the chart.
Several new releases this week, including found footage superhero film Chronicle, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and Man On A Ledge are likely to result in a big chart shake-up this weekend.
The UK box office top ten is as follows:
1. War Horse – £2,081,490
