Clips from the forthcoming new X-Men film First Class have emerged – you can see them by clicking above.

The comic book prequel, which is due to be released in the UK on June 1, takes the action back to the start of the series, when Professor X and Magneto met for the first time against a backdrop of the Cold War.

The movie is directed by Matthew Vaughn, who recently said that early James Bond films were among his “main influences” while working on the project.

“I really wanted it to feel like a ’60s Bond film, but with a little bit of reality it could be grounded in. I wanted there to be just a hint of this world of the mutants coming through.

“A mutant in this world having powers needed to be the equivalent of you or I sneezing, as normal as possible, at least until the humans start seeing it for the first time,” he told Hitfix.

The film stars James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier and Michael Fassbender as Magneto, with a supporting cast including Nicholas Hoult, Kevin Bacon and January Jones.Video
