Watch the official trailer for Matt Damon’s return as ‘Jason Bourne’

Film hits cinemas on July 29

The first full-length trailer for Jason Bourne has been revealed ahead of its summer release.

Matt Damon will return with the latest film in a franchise which has previously included The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum. It’s scheduled for release in July.

A brief glimpse of the film premiered during the Super Bowl earlier this year (February 7) but this new trailer opens up the themes of the film somewhat.

Starting off in the desert, Bourne is shown competing in a bare-knuckle fight club, before the action cuts to flashbacks from his troubled past. Julia Stiles, who is back as Nicky Parsons, warns Bourne that, “remembering everything doesn’t mean you know everything.” There is also mention of hacking and Edward Snowden, a theme previously hinted at by Damon.

The film will be released on July 27 and features Matt Damon in the lead role alongside Alicia Vikander, Tommy Lee Jones, Vincent Cassel and Riz Ahmed. Paul Greengrass directs.

Jason Bourne marks the return of Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne after nearly a decade away from the screen. The actor last played the secret agent in 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum and sat out 2012’s Bourne Legacy, which instead starred Jeremy Renner and performed relatively poorly at the box office.
