First shot of ‘The Hobbit’ cast released

Peter Jackson unable to attend shoot due to medical issues

The first shot of The Hobbit cast has appeared online.

Despite The Lord Of The Rings alumni Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis, Cate Blanchett and Elijah Wood being absent, new additions Martin Freeman, James Nesbitt, Richard Armitage and William Kircher were all present for the shoot.

The photo was taken at a press conference in Wellington, New Zealand.

Director Peter Jackson was unable to attend owing to his ongoing medical problems.

After a host of issues caused the film’s delay, filming on The Hobbit is finally set to start on March 21.
