Florence And The Machine have pulled out of this weekend's Benicassim due to illness.

Florence Welch and her band have been forced to cancel their appearance at the Spanish bash at the last minute after she came down with "acute vocal strain causing swelling of the vocal cords". The festival is due to kick off tomorrow (July 12) and Florence was set to headline.

But in a statement organisers said:

Given the sudden and unexpected illness suffered by Miss Welch, FIB 2012 organisation has been unable to find a substitute in such a small time frame.

It is likely reformed rockers At The Drive-In will now step up to headline the bash ahead of The Horrors, who previously toured with Florence.

Other acts on the bill which runs until July 15 include Bob Dylan, The Stone Roses and New Order. For further information head to Fiberfib.com.

This week's NME cover star recently marked the third anniversary of her debut 'Lungs' at T In The Park over the weekend. To read an exclusive interview with Florence And The Machine, pick up this week's NME, which is on UK newsstands and available digitally now.
