Florence Welch stopped a gig in Aberdeen to break up a fight in the crowd.

The incident happened during Florence And The Machine's gig at the Exhibition and Conference Centre in Aberdeen, Scotland, on Sunday (December 9).

Midway through the band's hit 'Shake It Out', Welch spotted members of the audience pushing and fighting close to the front of the stage. She stopped the song to say, in a rather schoolma'amly way, "Excuse me, all of you – stop it."

Spotting a girl crying, she said, "Is she going to be OK? Are you alright my love?" The barefoot singer then jumped offstage and climbed into the crowd where she comforted the girl, to squeals of delight from those nearby.

Welch told the cheering crowd:

Everyone who's friends, kiss and make up and be good to each other.

Earlier, Welch had told the crowd, "I can't sing this song while there is a fight going on in front of me. It doesn't matter who is right or wrong, just sort it out and be friends. I feel like a teacher." Scroll down and click to watch the event unfold.

Recently, Welch joined The Rolling Stones at their November 29 show at London's O2 Arena, where she performed the female vocal part in 'Gimme Shelter'. Welch recently said she needs to take a break from the music industry before starting work on her next album, and wants to use her time off to write a musical instead.
