Art-rockers forced to cancel gig due to onstage accident
Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis suffered a damaged foot onstage, forcing the band to cancel a gig on their UK tour.
The accident happened at Wrexham's Central Station venue two nights ago (December 3), forcing the band to axe a gig at Carlisle’s Brickyard venue last night (December 4).
The band explained that while last night’s gig had to be cancelled so Philippakis could receive medical treatment, the remainder of Foals’ UK tour would go ahead as planned.
The gig has been rescheduled for March 8, and original tickets remain valid.
Writing via MySpace, keyboardest Edwin Congreave explained: “Yannis smashed up his foot in Wrexham in an onstage incident that can only be described as ‘gooberish’. It looks a bit like a clown’s nose. A clown’s nose full of blood, pus, and coarse Greek hair."
The cancellation was the second time the band have had to scrap a Carlisle gig – they had to cancel a scheduled show there in October in order to sort US visas.
“This is the second time we've cancelled in Carlisle,” wrote Congreave. “To say that we're apologetic and embarrassed is something of a redundant understatement. We're really sorry.”
