Foals joined by Friendly Fires star at T In The Park

Oxford band get an extra drummer for final song

Foals today (July 11) played a storming set on the King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut stage at T In The Park, with Friendly FiresEd Macfarlane providing extra percussion.

They also played two new songs, 'Total Life Forever' and 'Dirty Waves', previously aired during their set at the Breeders-curated All Tomorrow’s Parties festival, which showcase the two very distinct sides of Foals’ sound.

The former is rich in breaksy funk, with an interlude featuring guitarist and frontman Yannis Philippakis playing a manic jazz-like breakdown. The the latter is an expansive, dark song.

However, it was closer and fan-favourite 'Two Steps, Twice' that sent the packed tent into raptures as it was extended into a six-minute glitch-fest that had the crowd pounding the dry, dusty ground. Macfarlane joined during the extended outro and played alongside drummer Jack Bevan, who had earlier joined Friendly Fires onstage.
