Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis has become embroiled in a war of words with Lostprophets after the Welsh act slagged off his band on Twitter.

Philippakis compared the Pontypridd band to "'a boney old chihuahua pissing on its own leg", following a Tweet by guitarist Lee Gaze labelling the Oxford five-piece "shit".

Gaze had initially Tweeted: "I've got some news. Foals are fucking shit."

After reading the comment, Philippakis responded by saying "Lostprophets. LOL!", before Tweeting: "Being insulted by the Lostprophets is a bit like watching a yapping, boney old chihuahua piss on its own leg."

It's not clear what sparked the initial outburst.
