Foals, Wild Beasts, Villagers to splash cash if they win Barclaycard Mercury Prize - video Get Tickets
Plus I Am Kloot liken nomination to 'getting a Peel session'
The Oxford five-piece's current album 'Total Life Forever is one of the 12 albums shortlisted for for this year's prize, the winner of which will be announced tomorrow night (September 7). And if they triumph they have ideas on how to spend the prize money.
"We'd go to the Caribbean, go speargun fishing, buy a fast car and find the nearest babe and drive into the sea," joked frontman Yannis Philippakis in a video interview you can watch on the right.
Meanwhile Wild Beasts, whose 2009 album Two Dancers has also been shortlisted for the prize, revealed even more bizarre intentions.
"We'd just waste it," said singer and guitarist Hayden Thorpe in a video interview you can watch below. "We'd buy 10,000 sausages or something."
"We'd spend it on something really frivolous," added bassist and co-vocalist Tom Fleming. "If you get free money what are you going to do with it? Something that you wouldn't normally do."
Villagers singer Conan J O'Brien said he hasn't thought past the ceremony itself at this stage, but he would celebrate with a drink should they triumph.
"If I win I will probably get very drunk and start talking crap all night long," he explained in his video interview.
Meanwhile, I Am Kloot, who have chalked up a nomination with their sixth studio album 'Sky At Night', said they were honoured to finally be put on the map by the Mercury Prize panel.
"It is like getting a John Peel session or getting asked to play at Glastonbury," explained frontman John Bramwell. "It's one of those things you'd very much like to happen and it seems like a milestone. It isn't the be all and end all, but it's certainly a very important thing."
