Foals will release a new mix album entitled 'Foals Tapes' in July.

The Oxford band, who are currently working on their third studio album, will release the compilation on July 2. Foals are the third band to contribute a mix to the 'Tapes' series, following The Rapture and The Big Pink.

Among the artists featured on the compilation are Caribou, Nicolas Jaar, Tony Allen, Art Department, Blood Orange and Teengirl Fantasy.

Speaking about the mixtape, Foals' Edwin Congreave said: "It’s easy to throw some random music together and call it a DJ mix, but I wanted to make something more ambitious than that."

Asked how he'd chosen the songs, Congreave said he'd tried to include the tastes of the whole band and not just himself.

He added: "We wanted it to reflect the taste of the whole band, so I picked music from the last five years of shared listening. We used to tour in an ex-Royal Mail delivery van – the DIY band cliché – and we drove ourselves to shows listening to each others' playlists on a ropey old cassette player. Nineties math rock, Greek folk music, Kompakt compilations, early Metronomy demos, endless Arthur Russell, sometimes infuriatingly eclectic, but it stretched our minds wide open."

Foals' Edwin Congreave will undertake a DJ tour this summer, with sets in London, Manchester and Glasgow among his plans.

The tracklisting for 'Foals Tapes' is as follows:
