Foals teach schoolchildren how to play 'Holy Fire' track at Albert Hall

Behind closed doors performance concluded the band's masterclass for London pupils

Foals this week gave a masterclass to a group of to London schoolchildren at London's Royal Albert Hall, and singer Yannis Philippakis says he was so inspired by their work he plans to use the ideas in future songs.

The event, which was part of Albert Hall's education programme, concluded with the band and the children – including 10 guitarists, 18 singers, bass players and drummers – re-working a track from new album 'Holy Fire', reports London Evening Standard. "I had always wanted to work with a large group of vocals," said Philippakis. "The schoolchildren had been in choirs and had some understanding of gospel choirs."

Foals are set to play the iconic Albert Hall on March 28. Earlier this month, they reached Number Two in the Official Albums Chart with 'Holy Fire', their highest ever album chart position, beating their 2008 debut album 'Antidotes' (which reached Number Three) and 2010's 'Total Life Forever' (Number Eight).

Philippakis also said the band will soon start to venture into solo and side projects following the release of their latest album. "At some point, probably in the not too distant future, we are going to start doing things on the side largely to satisfy creative impulses which we can't satisfy with Foals. There are definitely certain things I would like to do which would shock, terrify and scar a lot of Foals fans."
