Foals have revealed that a scene in their new video for 'Late Night' almost led to a real-life death.

NME was on the set of the video with the band in Romania and filmed a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the promo, which saw Foals working with director Nabil (Frank Ocean, Kanye West). Speaking about one particular scene in which a character from the video hangs himself, guitarist Jimmy Smith says that things almost got too realistic: "In the suicide scene the guy actually hung himself by mistake, which was pretty bonkers. We were watching it on the screens next door and it was really realistic, we thought he was doing an amazing job acting. Then he started clawing at the belt and went all limp. Nabil had his head in his hands and we all thought we had killed a Romanian dude."

Elsewhere in the behind-the-scenes video, drummer Jack Bevan suggests that the NSFW sex scenes in the video might not be as acted as you are led to believe. "There's sex. Possibly actual sex, nobody really knows. At first it wasn't, but who knows by the end? That was happening in the room next to us so we were about 10 feet away watching a couple who had never met one another sort of maybe having actual sex."

'Late Night' is the latest single to be lifted from Foals' third album 'Holy Fire', which was released earlier this year. The band brought their current UK tour to a close in Portsmouth last night (March 13). They will perform twice at London's Royal Albert Hall on March 28, with an all-ages matinee show scheduled before the regular evening performance.
