Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis has revealed that he once received some unusual advice from R.E.M's Michael Stipe on how to deal with post-tour comedown.

Phillippakis admitted he go some celebrity advice in an interview in the brand new issue of NME, available online and on newsstands today (July 31).

"What I find harder isn't necessarily the big peaks and then coming down. It's coming off a long tour. That's what fucks with you. I don't really have an answer on how to recalibrate to the normal rhythm of life," Phillippakis explained.

He added: "I talked to Michael Stipe about it and he told me to try acupuncture. I did that once. It didn't do anything for me. It just made me not able to sleep."

Continuing, Philappakis explained that, though Stipe is "not really" a friend of his, he was keen to benefit from the REM legend's wisdom. "I just talked to him once because I was having trouble and I thought he would be a good person to ask. He is a lovely guy. I like asking people who are more experienced than me, getting advice off them on how to deal with stuff," Philappakis said. "To be honest, I don't want to end up frying myself. I don't want to be another rock casualty and I don't see why I should be."

Foals played their biggest festival headline slot to date at Latitude on July 21 and are now midway through a run of summer festivals across Europe, North America, Japan and South Korea. The band will be back in the UK for sets at Reading And Leeds Festivals on August 23 and 24.
