Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis has hinted at the band making new music, warning fans to keep alert for a "surprise."

The frontman of the Oxford band, who will headline this year's Bestival and Parklife Weekender festivals, spoke to Gigwise about the possibility of new music following the release of their 2013 album 'Holy Fire'.

"We're just turning the heat up in the oven a little bit," said Philippakis. "We haven't put the dish in, but we're like, pre-warming the oven. We might have some surprises coming out for fans, but they'll have to wait and see."

Hinting at a "different" sound, the frontman continued: "We don't really think about it. I find it's kind of counterproductive to do that, but I'm pretty sure it will be different in some way. I think that's sort of the lifeblood of the band – for each track to vary a little and hold its own place on the album, but we'll see."

Foals are currently on a UK tour and will play shows in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham and Newcastle. The band will play two shows at Manchester Apollo starting tonight (February 7) and Saturday (8) before carrying on the tour, culminating in two huge London shows at Alexandra Palace on February 14/15).

Foals will play:

Manchester Apollo (February 7, 8)
Glasgow 02 Academy (9)
Birmingham O2 Academy (11)
Newcastle O2 Academy (12)
London Alexandra Palace (14, 15)
