'LONESOME' DAVE PEVERETT 1950-2000

Lead singer of 1970s rock band Foghat, 'Lonesome' Dave Peverett died last week of pneumonia, following a year-long battle with kidney cancer. He was 56.

Foghat were formed in London in 1971 from the ashes of blues band Savoy Brown.

They were best known for their song 'Slow Ride' which appeared on the soundtrack to Richard Linklater's 1993 movie 'Dazed And Confused' which followed the fortunes of a gang of 70s American teenagers.

The success of the movie prompted the band to reform after splitting in 1984.
