Foo Fighters have played their smallest show in years – just hours before their biggest.

Dave Grohl’s band have warmed up for their shows at London Hyde Park and Manchester Old Trafford this weekend (June 17-18) with a date at the tiny Underworld club in London (June 16).

Coming on stage at 8.45pm, the group played a hit packed set, which included ’My Hero’, ’DOA’ and ’Monkey Wrench’.

Speaking from the stage, singer Grohl said that the show was put into place at the 11th hour because he decided he needed a workout before playing such massive dates.

Looking out at the 400 people in the audience, he added: "This reminds me of some good old times we had years ago!"

The setlist ran:
'Everlong'
'Low'
'Hey, Johnny Park'
'Monkey Wrench'
'Times Like These'
'DOA'
'For All The Cows'
'Breakout'
'No Way Back'
'Stacked Actors'
'My Hero'
'Generator'
'Aurora'
'All My Life'

The group's setlist also had a three song encore - 'In Your Honor', 'This Is A Call' and 'Best Of You' - but a strict cerfew meant these songs were not played on the night.

Foo Fighters have been in the UK all week, and also played two acoustic shows on their tour.
