Foo Fighters reveal new album details

Foo Fighters have revealed details of their sixth album, which has a possible title of ‘Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace’.

Speaking to Billboard.com, frontman Dave Grohl told of his dream to “mix Steely Dan with ”, and how one of the tracks was inspired by two Tasmanian miners who were trapped underground for two weeks. The miners had requested Foo Fighters music to listen to during their ordeal, and were invited by Grohl to see the band play upon their rescue.

Grohl told Billboard he sent the men a note saying 'Hey guys, it's Dave. You're in our thoughts and prayers. When you get out, there's two tickets and two cold beers waiting for you wherever you want to see the band.'"

Having written ’The Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners’, Grohl invited guitarist Kaki King to play on the song and describes it as “almost banjo-picking style with hammer-ons and pull-offs,”

Other song titles on the album include ‘Let It Die’, ‘Erase Replace’, ‘The Pretender’ and ‘Cheer Up Boys, Your Makeup Is Running’.

The band will tour the US in September and October and have promised UK dates around that time too.
