Godlike Genius shows NME around his pad
Video: Dave Grohl - Exclusive Studio Tour
Foo Fighters have recorded their seventh studio album in Dave Grohl's garage – with the frontman opening up the doors in a new NME.COM video.
In the video, above, Grohl gives a tour of his California home, where the as-yet-untitled album was recorded.
Despite owning a state-of-the-art studio, Grohl said of his decision to record at home: "I just thought, 'Fuck it! Let's record it in my garage.'"
The singer/guitarist also opened up about how Foo Fighters' hits were written. Speaking about demoing 'The Pretender' and 'Best Of You' he said: "I demoed them all on this super shitty drum set, it was like a fucking Toys R Us drumset, but in this room it sounded like fucking Led Zeppelin."
The band's new album has been recorded with producer Butch Vig and is expected to be released this spring.
Grohl will receive the Godlike Genius Award at the Shockwaves NME Awards on February 23. Foo Fighters, along with My Chemical Romance, will perform at the ceremony.
Foo Fighters will headline the NME Awards Big Gig on February 25 at Wembley Arena, with Cee Lo Green, Band Of Horses and No Age also on the bill.
