Foo Fighters will release their new album on April 11.

The as-yet untitled album, their seventh full-length effort, was produced by Nirvana producer Butch Vig, with the band posting a new snippet of music from the record online at Foofighters.fm.

The recording process saw frontman Dave Grohl, set to be crowned Godlike Genius at the Shockwaves NME Awards later this month, team up with his ex-Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic, who plays bass on one song on the record.

Grohl has said that the album is the band's "heaviest yet".

For a new interview with the frontman about the album get the new NME Icons: Dave Grohl magazine, out on Friday (February 4).

Foo Fighters are set to headline the NME Awards Big Gig on February 25 at Wembley Arena, two days after the Shockwaves NME Awards ceremony in London.
