Foo Fighters brought the first night of this weekend‘s BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend in Carlisle to a close this evening (May 14).

The band played an 80-minute, 15-song set featuring four tracks from their new album 'Wasting Light', including recent single 'Rope'. They also played a selection of hits including an extended version of 'All My Life', a slowed-down 'Times Like These' and 'Cold Day In The Sun', which featured drummer Taylor Hawkins on lead vocals.

Frontman Dave Grohl lamented the band's short set, saying: "We're only supposed to play for an hour. We have 100 songs. How's that going to work?" He also asked the packed crowd how many of them were seeing his band for the first time and to whose who cheered, he replied: "Where the hell have you been for the last 16 years?"
