Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor has revealed more details about his collaboration with Dave Grohl.

Taylor, who is currently recording a new album with Stone Sour, took to Twitter earlier this month to say that he had just completed a song with Grohl and Nirvana producer Butch Vig.

It was not known at the time what the collaboration was part of, a similar situation to Grohl's recording sessions with hair metallers Ratt, who had previously said that they had recorded with the former Nirvana man on a brand new song for a new project currently referred to simply as 'TBA'.

However Taylor has now revealed that the project is part of Grohl's documentary about Sound City Studios, the studio complex where Nirvana's 'Nevermind' was recorded, and that Grohl is getting a collection of musicians to record in the studio as part of the project.

Taylor told Artisan News Service: "Dave is doing a documentary about the legendary board from Sound City that everybody and their mom recorded on and he's slowly but surely gotten all these people together to make music on that board again."

He continued: "He called me. He was like, 'Would you like to do a tune?' I was like, 'Are you serious? I'm on a plane right now.' And it's really cool, because it's me, Dave and Rick Nielsen [Cheap Trick] on one tune. And I'm like, 'Ahh…. Excuse me?!' It's just a huge check mark on my bucket list, let's put it that way. And I'm really ecstatic. It's a really good tune."

It is not known as yet when Grohl's documentary or its accompanying soundtrack will be released.
