Foo Fighters dedicate 'My Hero' to President Obama at Democratic National Convention
Dave Grohl's band perform a special two-song acoustic set at the party's annual gathering
Dave Grohl's band took to the stage during the party's annual gathering - held this year in Charlotte, North Carolina - to perform a special two-song acoustic set. Later in the evening, Obama would accept his party's nomination to run for a second term as President.
Before beginning a rendition of their 1998 single 'My Hero', Grohl said: "It's an honour to be here tonight. I think this song makes perfect sense, here." Foo Fighters completed their short set by performing 2011's 'Walk'. Scroll down to watch the band's full ten-minute performance.
Other performances at the Democratic National Convention this year (2012) came from Mary J. Blige, James Taylor, Marc Anthony and Jessica Sanchez.
Foo Fighters have recently added to their tour in support of 2011's 'Wasting Light' album. Speaking during their headline set at Reading Festival on August 26, Grohl told the crowd: "It's the last show of the tour and it's the last show for a long time."
However, as well as performing at yesterday's DNC, the band played an epic 35-song set the previous night (September 5) at the Rock The Vote show in Charlotte. They have also lined up US festival appearances in Atlanta, Georgia on September 21 and Pensacola Beach, Florida on September 22.
