Dave Grohl will start hosting a radio show today (November 29) about Sound City studios.

The Foo Fighters frontman's first weekly show, titled 'Dave Grohl Presents Sound City' will air on SiriusXM at 4pm EST and will feature music recorded at the California studio, Rolling Stone reports.

Each episode will focus on a specific time period at the studios, which Grohl is currently making a documentary about. Titled Sound City, the film will tell the story of the iconic studio, featuring interviews with a series of artists and producers. The Foo Fighters frontman apparently came up with the concept for the documentary last year, when he bought the Neve 8028 recording console from the studio after they closed down for commercial use in May 2011.

The first episode of Grohl's radio show to be aired today will cover 1970-75 and will feature tracks from the likes of Neil Young, Elton John and Fleetwood Mac. The episodes will extend to 2011, with music from Tom Petty, the Grateful Dead, Jimmy Eat World, Metallica, Arctic Monkeys and Grohl's former band Nirvana, who recorded their seminal LP 'Nevermind' there. The final episode of the show - to air on January 24 - will feature a discussion with Grohl about making the documentary.

"I'm so proud of the Sound City film and beyond excited for the world to see what I've been working on for the past year," Grohl said in a statement. "Even before that, though, I'm grateful to SiriusXM for giving me the opportunity to share all this great music and to let people know what got me excited about Sound City in the first place."

Scroll down to watch a teaser trailer for the documentary, featuring interviews with Pixies' Frank Black, Metallica's Lars Ulrich and producers Rick Rubin and Trent Reznor.
