Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins has revealed details about his collaboration with Dave Grohl on his new album.

Hawkins will release the self-titled debut LP from his side-project The Birds Of Satan on April 14. Speaking in a new interview in this week's NME, which is on newsstands and available digitally now, Hawkins said Grohl had co-written several tracks for the record as well as playing drums.

"Dave was only there for two days, but when he came in, I'm like, 'I wanna write a song that's prog-rock fandango with insanity parts flying around everywhere,'" he said. "I want it to sound like [Queen]'s 'March Of The Black Queen' meets 'Station To Station' by Bowie meets fucking 'Band On The Run' meets 'Three Days' by Jane's Addiction. Because who cares? And we did it, in one day."

Hawkins also revealed that Grohl had co-written the tracks 'The Ballad Of The Birds Of Satan', 'Raspberries' and 'Wait Til Tomorrow', while Foo Fighters guitarist Pat Smear helped craft the song 'Too Far Gone To See'.

The Birds of Satan sees Hawkins joined by Wiley Hodgden and Mick Murphy. The band's debut album was recorded in less than a week and was produced by John Lousteau. A trailer for the album can be seen below.

The trackisting for 'The Birds Of Satan' is as follows:

'The Ballad Of The Birds Of Satan'
'Thanks For The Line'
'Pieces Of The Puzzle'
'Raspberries'
'Nothing At All'
'Wait Til Tomorrow'
'Too Far Gone To See'
