Foo Fighters have announced details of their first ever gigs in South Africa.

The US band will make their live debut in the country, having previously never ventured there in the last 20 years. Dave Grohl and his band will play two stadium gigs in December at Cape Town Stadium (December 10) and Johannesburg's FNB Stadium (December 13). Kaiser Chiefs and BLK JKS will provide support on both dates.

Foo Fighters currently only have a small number of live dates confirmed for the rest of the year while they work on a new studio album. However, the band recently agreed to perform for a group of fans who set up a Kickstarter campaign to have them play live in Richmond for the first time since 1998 on an unspecified date.

Meanwhile, the group headlined the Firefly Music Festival in Delaware last week, finishing their set with an encore filled with cover versions. The band performed their versions of Queen's 'Under Pressure', ‘School's Out’ by Alice Cooper, 'Miss You' by The Rolling Stones and Van Halen's 'Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love'.
