Foo Fighters have set the date for the Stateside premiere of the first episode of Sonic Highways, which will feature the first new song to be taken from their forthcoming new album.

The first of eight episodes will air on October 17 on the HBO channel, with each subsequent episode following every Friday evening after the first is broadcast. Earlier this week, it was revealed that Foo Fighters have finished work on their new album. The LP is due for release in November.

Producer Butch Vig, who worked with Dave Grohl on Nirvana's 'Nevermind' and is also a member of Garbage, tweeted on Wednesday (July 30) to announce the news. "We are officially done with the new Foo Fighters album. 23 straight days mixing! IT'S EPIC!!!" he wrote.

The new album was recorded in eight different studios in eight states across America. It will be accompanied by the mini-series Sonic Highways which will document the recording progress. Dave Grohl operates as director on the project, following his Sound City documentary of 2013.

Earlier today (August 1) tickets for Foo Fighters' London comeback gig sold out in a matter of hours. The band will make their return to the UK at the closing concert for the Invictus Games on September 14. Tickets went on sale at 9am this morning, but have now all been sold.

The Invictus Games takes place at London's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and sees Dave Grohl and co top a line-up that also includes Kaiser Chiefs, Ellie Goulding, Ryan Adams, The Vamps, Rizzle Kicks, James Blunt, Diversity and Military Wives Choir. The 26,000-capacity outdoor concert will take place on the south lawn of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park from 5pm to 10pm and highlights will be broadcast by the BBC.
