Dave Grohl: ‘Emily Eavis hasn’t called about Foo Fighters playing Glastonbury yet’

The frontman called the event a 'fun festival'

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has said that Glastonbury Festival’s Emily Eavis hasn’t called the band about playing next year’s event.

Eavis recently told NME: “We’d love to have the Foo Fighters back at Glastonbury and they haven’t played since 1998 so it’s well overdue! We’ll have to see…”. Speaking earlier today (November 12), Grohl explained that despite this, the band haven’t been asked about performing yet. “She hasn’t called – I have not gotten the call yet,” he said. “The Foo Fighters haven’t been there since 1998, so er… and that’s a fun festival.”

At the moment Foo Fighters are favourites to headline next summer’s event, with William Hill recently cutting the band’s odds from 14/1 outsiders to 8/11 favourites.

“There’s a real gamble on for Foo Fighters to play at Glastonbury, but at this stage it looks like a combination of hopeful fans and those following the rumour-mill. Perhaps given the weight of money we’ve seen, there may be some truth in the rumours,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke in a statement.

Earlier this evening Foo Fighters announced plans for a 2015 tour of the UK, set to take place in May and June of next year, with a open window to appear at Worthy Farm for Glastonbury, which will take place June 24-28, 2015. They will play Sunderland Stadium Of Light on May 25, Manchester Emirates Old Trafford on May 27, London’s Wembley Stadium on June 19 and 20 and Edinburgh Murrayfield Stadium on June 23. Tickets go on pre-sale November 19 and on general sale at 10am on November 21.
