FOO FIGHTERS founder and former NIRVANA drummer DAVE GROHL has confirmed he is to appear on the forthcoming album by QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE.
Queens are in the process of recording the follow-up to last year's NME Album Of The Year, 'Rated R'. Given a working title of 'Songs For The Deaf', the album will feature three songs with Grohl on drums.
Speaking in the current issue of NME, Grohl explained how the collaboration came about.
He said: "I've known those guys for a long time. I was a huge fan of the first Queens album and, jokingly, when asked what was my greatest disappointment of the year 2000 I said that I hadn't been asked to play on their record.
"One thing we have in common is a love of early Black Flag. In one of the songs we recorded - I think it's called 'Song For The Dead', there's a nod to an early Black Flag record: the drum riff is me paying tribute to Bill Stevenson".
Foo Fighters are confirmed to appear at this weekend's V2001 festivals. Grohl has also finished demoing the new Foo Fighters album, which he told NME.COM should be complete by the end of the year.
