¡Forward, Russia! play triumphant New York show

They debut a song for their US audience

¡Forward, Russia! performed a triumphant show at New York’s Bowery Ballroom last night (November 28).

Having played New York several times in one week earlier this month during the CMJ music marathon, the band used their headlining Bowery Ballroom slot for the American debut of ‘Don’t Be A Doctor’ , the first song the band wrote after completing debut album ‘Give Me A Wall’.

"I think we’ve played New York more times than we’ve played York!" exclaimed bassist Rob Canning during the hour-long set. Referring to the large number of Yorkshire fans in the crowd, he smiled "It’s just like an Arctic Monkeys gig", to which singer Tom Woodhead responded by quoting Alex Turner, saying, "Don’t believe the hype."

Following the show the band retired to a local bar where Woodhead told NME.COM: "America’s been weird but good. I’m really looking forward to our UK tour in February."
