Mike Myers is to make a follow-up to Austin Powers in Goldmember

, eight years after the third film in the series was originally released.

A fourth Austin Powers movie has long been mooted, with Myers being quoted in 2007 as starting work on a follow-up that would be from Dr Evil‘s point of view.

Mike Myers is working on ideas for it,” Jay Roach – who directed the previous Powers film, along with Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers – told MTV News. “People are definitely talking about it and I’m all good for it. I love those characters”.

Roach, who was speaking at film trade show ShoWest in Las Vegas, suggested it was “hard to say” what direction the franchise would take next before adding it would be “somewhere you haven’t thought of”.
