Rapper Foxy Brown narrowly escaped jail yesterday after she pleaded guilty to the charge of violating probation after leaving the state of New York without permission.
Last October, Brown (real name Inga Marchand) avoided jail but was given a sentence of three years probation and ordered to attend anger management classes for assaulting two Manhattan nail salon employees over a manicure procedure that was worth $20.
Just four months into the probationary period, Brown was again arrested in Florida, this time after an altercation over hair glue with the owner of a beauty supply store.
The New Yorker had protested her innocence earlier in the week claiming that she had been the police had been over-zealous and that she had been victimized by the media.
After passing the verdict yesterday (March 1), judge Melissa Jackson offered her one last reprieve, allowing her to continue with the original probation term but warned that if she violated it again, Brown would spend a full year in prison.
In light of the non-custodial sentence, Brown is still expected to release new album ‘Black Roses’ later in the year.
