Foxygen have announced a 'Farewell Tour'.

Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, the band claimed that the stint will be their "last". They wrote: "THANKYOU so much to r family, friends, managers, label and most of all YOU.This will be our LAST tour". See the tweet in full below.

The tour starts in North America later this month (March) before heading to Europe in May. Foxygen will finish up with a number of festival appearances in the summer, the last of which currently confirmed as Helsinki's Flow Festival in August.

UK dates include stop-offs in London, Bristol, Liverpool, Leeds and Glasgow.

NME approached Foxygen's PR to clarify the news and received the reply: "Whatever they tweeted is what they mean."

Foxygen will play the following UK dates:

Liverpool Kazimier (May 7)
Leeds Brudenell (8)
Glasgow Stereo (9)
Bristol Lantern (11)
London Electric Ballroom (12)

Foxygen released their 24-track '…And Star Power' album in October 2014.

Announcing the record at the time, the band wrote: "Foxygen have joined Star Power. It is a punk band, and you can be in it, too. Star Power is the radio station that you can hear only if you believe. A gaggle of guest stars. Roman-numeraled musical suites. Vocals recorded on a shoddy tape machine at The Beverly Hills Hotel and Chateau Marmont. A svelte 82-minute run time of psych-ward folk, cartoon fantasia, soft-rock indulgences, D&D doomrock and paranoid bathroom rompers. A cinematic auditory adventure for speedy freaks, skull krunchers, abductees and misfits. We're all stars of the scene."

NME's Alex Denney wrote of the record: "Sloppy and schizophrenic, ‘…And Star Power’ is the sound of record-collection rock having a nervous breakdown."
