Frank Ocean tears vocal chord, cancels Australian mini-tour
The singer has pulled all remaining three dates on his first ever trip there
The R&B singer played on Thursday night (July 25) at Melbourne’s Festival Hall and was due to be playing this evening (July 26) at the same venue. According to reports, Ocean told the crowd last night: "I’m sick… I don’t know if you care."
He was also due to be play Byron Bay's Splendour In The Grass festival on Sunday (July 28) and Sydney's Hordern Pavilion on July 29 and 30, but a statement from the promoters Live Nation has announced that all remaining dates have been pulled.
"After last night's concert in Melbourne at Festival Hall, it was necessary to seek medical advice due to vocal issues Frank Ocean experienced during the show," the statement reads. "It has subsequently been confirmed that Frank has suffered a small tear to one of his vocal chords and has received medical advice that he must rest his voice. This makes the completion of his remaining Australian dates impossible."
It continues: "Unfortunately due to Frank Ocean's tight tour schedule it is not possible to schedule replacement dates, however we will be working to confirm a return to Australia as soon as is practical."
