Frank Ocean made his live return last night (May 5) at the annual Met Gala in New York.

The 'Channel Orange' star appeared at the fundraiser for the city's Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute to perform 'Super Rich Kids' and 'Wiseman' and was accompanied by an all-female, 31-piece all-female orchestra, writes Consequence of Sound. See crowd-shot footage below.

Ocean did not perform any new material, but recently hinted that he is close to finishing his new album. The R&B singer is known to be working on the follow up to his 2012 debut 'Channel Orange' and shared an image of himself in the studio earlier this year. Ocean shared another update with fans last month.

Posting on Tumblr, Ocean said that if he did not attend Coachella Festival to see OutKast, he could wrap up work on the album, though he was keen to see Andre 3000 and Big Boi's long awaited return. "I might skip on Coachella to stay in the groove and finish this bitch. I feel like they're finna wild out though. Fuck it. Bring the helicopter out," he wrote. The post has since been deleted.

Ocean previously stated that he would not release any new music until this summer. Back in October 2013, Ocean responded to a fan question about new material on his Tumblr blog, saying "when summer comes round again", when asked when he'd be releasing new music.
