Documentary uncovers Zappa mystique
A DVD documenting the recording of Frank Zappa’s classic albums
‘Over-Nite Sensation’ and ‘Apostrophe’ is set to be released next month.
Going behind-the-scenes at each album’s recording session, the 98-minute documentary gives a rare insight into the mysterious legend who died in 1993.
The Zappa family opened the doors to his UMRK studio and the vault for the archive materials which feature rarely seen performances including his Saturday Night Live television appearance in 1976.
The DVD also features interviews with wife Gail, children Moon, Dweezil and Ahmet, and friends and colleagues including rocker Alice Cooper.
‘Frank Zappa CA Apostrophe/Over-Nite Sensation’ is released May 1.
