Franz Ferdinand are to release a double A-sided single late this month.

‘The Fallen’ is the third track to be lifted from current album ‘You Could Have It So Much Better’ and will be joined by brand new track ‘L Wells’.

The new song was recorded just a couple of weeks ago in Melbourne, Australia while the band were in the country as part of the Big Day Out festival. The band and label Domino were so excited by the results it was decided to scrap the original plans for ‘The Fallen’'s release.

The single, released on 2 x 7”s and CD on March 27, also features a mix ‘ruined’ by acclaimed French duo Justice plus a further two brand new tracks. The extra new songs are ‘Jeremy Fraser’, which is sung by guitarist Nick McCarthy, and ‘Brown Onions’, an instrumental recorded in New York.

Franz Ferdinand are tipped to go on a ‘club’ tour of the UK in the next few months. They also play the T In The Park festival in Balado, Kinross on July 9.
