Franz Ferdinand join The Cure at Shockwaves NME Awards Big Gig

Scots complete the bill for 02 Arena

Franz Ferdinand have completed the line-up for the 2009 Shockwaves NME Awards Big Gig.

The Scots will play ahead of The Cure's full 90-minute set at the 02 Arena in London on February 26.

Crystal Castles and White Lies are also on the bill.

The show takes place the day after this year's Shockwaves NME Awards ceremony, which is being held at Brixton Academy, and will see The Cure crowned as 2009 Godlike Geniuses.

Speaking about joining the Big Gig bill, Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos told NME.COM: "We've always fancied playing the Millennium Dome and it's great to share the stage with The Cure - one of the greatest British bands of the last 30 years."

I envy anyone goin to that gig. If it weren't for crystal castles it would be legendary.

I'm going to the gig and bought my ticket purely in the basis that The Cure are the best live act i've ever had the privelege to see. Crystal Castles are shite and White Lies are average, the less said of Franz Ferdinand the better. Last years Big Gig line up (apart from The Cure) was 10 times better

I wish this was happening in Scotland! the Cure have been my favourite band for eighteen years and I have seen them five times, and Franz Ferdinand six times. Time that these big NME gigs happened north of the border too!

I'm very excited about this gig as the Cure are my favourite band ever, and I love FF, I'm interested to see White Lies, Crystal Castles are ferocious live. My only question is...what happened to Justice and Foals? I was sure that when I booked my ticket it said the lineup included Justice and Foals. am I going mad?

Foals and Justice were just rumours that appeared online, they were never confirmed or announced by NME.
